Welcome to the DANG blog!
Welcome to the blog for Davis Advocates for Neighborhood Groceries (DANG!), a non-profit community group created to support the concept of neighborhood grocery stores that are within walking or biking distance to where we live.
This blog is intended to provide a forum for the community to comment on this issue and provide suggestions for current and future grocers to help them succeed.
DANG! was initially founded when the Westlake Plaza Shopping Center lost its grocery store in 2006 and there was a possibility that the market space would be re-zoned to other uses. The community organized to support the grocery zoning, and eventually a Bay Area grocer, DeLano's, signed a lease in 2009 and began working on a plan to open a store in West Davis.
